To celebrate my sixty-sixth birthday I’ve published a second book of SB bigrams. These bigrams are pairs of words where the first one starts with an S and the second one starts with a B. I’ve been publishing them in a website since 2010. The current site is called seriouslybonkers.com .
The new book “Stupidly Brilliant” subtitled “Seriously Bonkers’ selected bigrams synthesised by synthetic brains” is a follow on to the original book “Seriously Bonkers Silver Bullet’s Scrap Book“, published in 2018.
Every image in the new book has been generated by Artificial Intelligence. For most of them, the only prompt given was the two word bigram. From the 600 or so SB’s for which I now have one or more AI generated images, and which are categorised as “Stupidly Brilliant“, I’ve chosen approximately 100 that I particularly liked to include in the book.
Each image was chosen because it demonstrates both the stupidity of the AI image generation model and its brilliance . It may only take a few seconds to produce each image but many of them have been absolutely awful. I’ve probably discarded several thousand since I started generating them last year.
The SB’s in the book are in alphabetical order. If you were to want to read it as if it were a normal book then read the following pages in order
- the unnumbered untitled page before the table of contents
- Scene Building – page 13
- Supportive Blurb – page 97
- Supplied By – page 96
- Self Bio – page 27
After that just pick a page randomly, glance at the title, then have a look at the picture and see if it matches what you imagined for the SB. Also read the revised prompt, if available, to see how closely the results of the AI image generation align to what it said it was going to do.
There were quite a few times when I got extremely frustrated with AI. It just wouldn’t generate the image I was asking for. Examples are Straightforward Beheading (page 81) and Superior Brand (page 95). See also Slipped By.
Four versions of the second book
There are now 4 versions of the Stupidly Brilliant book available to order from Amazon.
Paperback
It’s basically the same book but the Superior version has a higher print quality, which means the images look a bit sharper. Also the books have different covers and ISBN numbers.
eBook – Kindle Edition
The Superior version of the eBook has hyperlinks to each of the SB’s referenced in the contents. Follow these to find out more about the image, which AI tool was used to create the image, who suggested the SB in the first place, and my observational notes on the image generation process and/or the resulting image(s).
