I’ve just been updating a theme built with Artisteer 2.5 ( November 2010) to Artisteer 4.1 and noticed that I no longer had footer widgets.
I’d previously customised Artisteer to add multiple header widgets so I starting looking to apply a similar customisation to add the footer widgets.
But when I looked at the code I discovered that there was already support for the footer widget areas, hidden away behind a theme option.
And on further investigation I found the documentation for it.
How to use WordPress themes > Customising the footer
But since I’m not happy with the way Artisteer requires me to fiddle about with blocks and stuff in the header, I still feel the need to re-apply the changes I’d previously made to create Header widget areas.
I may as well use the same logic that Artisteer uses and activate header widgets when selecting footer widgets.
