I’ve been sharing some of my plugins on
WordPress.org for a while.
The total number of downloads for plugins created by
bobbingwide has now passed 200,000.
Let me tell you a little more about them.
The base plugin, upon which most of the other plugins are built, is called
oik.
It delivers over 80 advanced
WordPress shortcodes.
But this plugin provides a lot more than shortcodes.
And it does it efficiently and effectively.
The
oik base plugin provides many services that the other plugins use, delivered in the form of APIs.
The other plugins are therefore dependent upon
oik.
By building on the functionality provided by other plugins I can keep each plugin small.
And I don’t have to re-invent the wheel each every time.
My second plugin was initially far more popular than oik. It provides an advanced form of the very popular Nivo slider. Over time, as oik has developed, so too has oik-nivo-slider. Its capabilities are quite amazing.
So long as the content you want to display has an attached or featured image then you can probably display it using the oik-nivo-slider.
These two plugins were created around the same time as my solution to the European Cookie Directive.
They can be used separately; but the idea is that your privacy policy page contains a table of cookies.
See my
Privacy notice page.
cookie-cat provides an admin interface which connects to
cookie-cat.co.uk to find the latest information about known cookies and their relationships with
WordPress plugins.
The oik weight / country shipping plugin came about when WooCommerce changed their logic causing the weight country shipping plugin we used on
officialcaravan.co.uk to fail.
This plugin is not dependent upon oik!
Was developed for a small business based in Bosham. I’ve just been asked to extend it to work with
tidetimes.co.uk as well as
tidetimes.org.uk
Developed for Rathmore Financial’s new theme this provides a simple button which will reveal more content when you click on it. Find a simple example at the bottom of this page.
was developed for someone who wanted to recategorize his posts – thousands of them. Subsequently it’s been extended to reschedule posts and do all sorts of other crazy things that are probably bad for SEO and certainly did annoy regular blog readers who saw the old posts being recycled rather than new posts.
You can’t please everyone.
I may extend it to work with some of the lesser viewed custom post types or custom taxonomies.
grew out of the need to style content on a page by page or even field by field basis.
here we use it to style the banner images
img.bw_banner { margin: 10px 20px 10px 10px; border: 1px solid grey;
-moz-box-shadow: 0px 10px 8px -3px #c2c2c2;
-webkit-box-shadow: 0px 10px 8px -3px #c2c2c2;
box-shadow: 0px 10px 8px -3px #c2c2c2; }
div.bw_plug a.plugin { font-size: 200%; padding-left: 10px; line-height: 2em;}
.w50p5 a.plugin { font-size: 180%; }
Is just for a bit of fun. Developed as an educational plugin.
